Enhanced Activity of Meprin-α, a Pro-Migratory and Pro-Angiogenic Protease, in Colorectal Cancer
11/11/2011 - PLoS ONE
Meprin-α is a metalloprotease overexpressed in cancer cells, leading to the accumulation of this protease in a subset of colorectal tumors. The authors investigated the impact of increased meprin-α levels on tumor progression in vitro. They found that meprin-α activity is regulated differently in primary tumors and metastases. By virtue of its pro-migratory and pro-angiogenic activity, they concluded that meprin-α may promote tumor progression in colorectal cancer.
Inhibition of β-secretase in vivo via antibody binding to unique loops (D and F) of BACE1
01/05/2011 - J. Bio. Chem.
β-Secretase (BACE1) is an attractive drug target for Alzheimer's disease. However, the design of clinical useful inhibitors targeting its active-site has however been extremely challenging.
